I recently thought it would be a good plan to share some parenting realities to show that parenting is not always exactly the way depicted in the glossy parenting magazines, and whilst it's a whole world of fun, some days won't turn out exactly as you expect it to.



The Day That Your Kid/s Are Sick

Whether your kids are sick with a cold, with gastro or whether you've had to do the midnight dash to the emergency room, one thing is true for all these scenarios: you'd swap places with them in a heartbeat if it meant that they would be better again. There isn't anything worse than seeing your little one poorly and weak and so often there is nothing that you can do to help them.

When it's a minor illness, kids are cranky, they don't sleep well so no one sleeps well and the days feel never ending. When it's something more serious, you have to watch your helpless child try to get better and even if they are sleeping, you generally aren't because you're so worried about them. It's a time that you aren't prepared for because before you have children you never realise that you could love anything or anyone so selflessly or that you'd worry so much over them. All you do as parents, is get through the sick days as best you can and hope (pray) that medicine works fast, and illnesses pass quickly.
