It is estimated that in Australia that 320,000 children under the age of 15 every year require treatment in hospital due to accidents that have happened within the home. Due to the curious nature of particularly young children, the 0-5 age range, is a particular danger category. Here's one simple safety tip that you can start doing now right away, to prevent scalds in the kitchen.

Turn handles in away from tiny hands

Tip

When cooking on the stove top, make sure that saucepan handles are turned inwards completely away from the prying hands of youngsters. If possible use only the burners at the far back of the stove top. Whilst cooking should never be left unattended, if you are distracted for whatever reason (let's face it, parenting is full of interruptions), then at least saucepans are out of reach of curious grasping hands.
