Places to Visit With Your Baby in Sydney

Some new mums dread to leave the house, especially by themselves for fear that their baby might start crying in the car whilst they drive, in the pram on your way to the park or just in general whilst out and about?

However, with so many things to see and do it's important to get out and enjoy them; just because your baby is still young and may not remember it in the future does not mean they will not learn or enjoy the experience too.

Setting out

What you will need to leave the house with your baby:

  • A couple of nappies
  • Change mat
  • Change of clothes
  • Thermos bottle and baby formula, if you are formula feeding.

  • Tip: Life will be easier if you have a formula dispenser so that you don't have to bring the whole tin with you.
  • Optional breastfeeding shawl or cover; if you are breast feeding.
  • -Dummy (if your baby needs it)

    Where to Go

    1. Darling Harbour

The winter festival is now on and there are some beautiful decorations in the city in Darling Harbour, check it out and enjoy a hot chocolate at Lindt Cafe.

    2. The Park

The nearest park is great but how about going to the Botanical Gardens on a sunny day? There are beautiful fountains and a beautiful walkway you can even sit under a tree and have a small picnic with your little one. The fresh air will be good for both of you!

    3. Shopping

Sometimes it is fun to go shopping and it is even better if you actually get to do your shopping! Initially, with your first child you may feel a little panic when leaving the house alone so with the help of friends and family you could do the occasional trip to your favourite clothes store. When your baby is about 5 to 6 months it will be so much easier to take a shopping trip and if your baby needs a nappy change it's worth noting that every Westfield Centre has plenty of change rooms and private feeding rooms!

    4. Swimming

Look into your local swimming pool schedule as they normally have a session for mums with their babies which is fun all the year round, and if you go on a weekday there aren't too many people so you won't feel swamped.

    5. Cinema

Did you know that the Event Cinema holds baby sessions on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, it is only $10 and you finally get to watch the movie you have been waiting for. I finally got to watch Maleficent recently. Check it out here

    6. Fine Food Store

This store is child and baby friendly and has a variety of freshly made sandwiches and great desserts! There is also plenty of space for prams too. If you are hunting for new mums to hang out with you will find plenty there!

There are plenty more places to go to but here are just 6 to start with!
