If you've got pirate loving kids at home, or you're just looking for a great easy game to play as a family, then Don't Rock the Boat, might be a great choice for you.
The premise of Don't Rock the Boat, is simple. Each player is given a stack of pirate penguins and you just take it in turns to stack them on to the 'rocky boat'. You must be careful where to place your swashbuckling penguin, as if you put him in the wrong place the boat will topple all the shipmates overboard.
It's an incredibly simple game and kids particularly seem to really enjoy it. The little pengins are cute, and it's a game you can get out and be playing within minutes as set up is simple and there's not many rules.
The guide age range is 5 but we play this with our 3 year old who loves most things pirate related. He has a lot of fun with this game, and I'd worry that an older child might get frustrated with the fact that penguins end up overboard more often than they stay on the ship.
My only flaw with this game is that the boat is a bit too wobbly. It would be a better (and slightly longer game) if the boat was a little more stable to aide with balance.
This game would make a great gift idea if you're not sure what the child already has, as it's not one of the more common games that you see everywhere else.
This game is currently in Toy World for $29.99 and cheaper prices can be found online.
