No parent likes seeing their kids like this, and no child likes getting sick (Besides getting to stay home from school), so to help you out, below are 6 powerful ways to boost your children's immune system and to keep them healthy this flu season!

1. Turmeric

Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant that is often overlooked by western society. Not only does it contain powerful anti-depressant properties, but it is also great and clearing the head and boosting the immune system.

How to use it: Brew a 1cm chunk in a tea pot with some lemon, ginger and honey.

2. Garlic

For years Garlic has been known to ward off colds and fluís. Its anti-inflammatory properties also help beat sore throats quick. In recent years there has been a surge in garlic supplements on the market, however as with all supplements they donít pack the punch of the real thing, so where you can use fresh garlic.

How to use it: peal a bulb of garlic, put it in a small ramekin or mug, cover with olive oil, and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until the garlic is soft. Once it cools youíll have a delicious garlic spread which you can add to toast to get your kids consuming large amounts of this super food.

3. Ginger

The immune boosting properties of Ginger are sensational. Every time I get sick I pile on the fresh ginger and am back and at it within 24-48 hours.

How to use it: Make a juice with cucumber, lemon and ginger. Sweeten with Stevia or honey as needed.

4. Vitamin C

Vitamin C has been the go-to remedy for families for decades and for good reason. Not only does Vitamin C boost immune system function and help you recover for colds, but it's also an extremely powerful anti-oxidant.

How to use: Get your kids chewable, sugar-free vitamin C tablets and give them 1 a day to keep their immune system strong.

5. Avoid Sugar

Sugar has been proven to release a strong acidic effect on the human body, which attacks our immune system and leaves us weak and open to attack. This winter try swapping sugar for Stevia based sweeteners to keep your kids strong.

How to achieve: Use a natural sweetener product such as SweetMe or any other Stevia based sweetener.

6. Stay hydrated

Our bodies are 70% water, and studies have shown that 75% of all adults and 70% of kids are dehydrated. There are many benefits of drinking water, but likewise there are numerous side effects of not, the largest being that you get sick.

How to achieve: Get your kids a water bottle and encourage them to drink from it regularly. If you can, I suggest getting a filter bottle from somewhere like Fill2Pure as this will eliminate any waterborne germs.
