My mum is amazing at finding bargains or the odd thing going for free that someone was going to chuck out. She recently rescued this small suitcase from the dump. It's from 1900 and just happened to have my youngest son's initials. She gave it to us this morning and we had fun with my son hiding some toy dinosaurs and creating stories about them. This inspired to us to make our own creative story boxes this afternoon.

All you need is a box, bag or if you're lucky a little suitcase. You could even decorate your own box or simple bag if you wanted to add some extra creativity

With your child, choose a few random items that will easily fit in the bag or box.
Fill the bag or box with as many items as you like.
Close the bag or box and take it to a comfortable place for storytime.
Open the story box and start to make up a story together inspired by the items in the box.

This is a great way to make up stories yourself and it's always fun to add your kids into the story as characters.
