If you’ve got kids, you’re probably always looking for ways to entertain them just so you can get some things done! Having a playroom for them is a great way to entertain your kids and make sure they’re safe while you carry on with your day. You can have a designated playroom in either an indoor or outdoor space. When looking for an area in the house to turn into a kids playroom you should look for a few key features to make sure it will be the most suitable. Start from the ground up. Look at the flooring you have in your house. Carpets are not paint or crayon friendly by any stretch of the imagination so select an area which has a more durable flooring, such as timber floorboards, to make sure the kids can be left to their own devices without you worrying about destruction to your home.
Another feature you should look out for is sharp edges. This is an obvious but important one. Make sure the playroom isn’t surrounded by sharp corners or furniture edges. That way kids can run around and you never have to worry about them hurting themselves. For an indoor playroom, you should also make sure there are no opening windows that are at a low height. Making sure windows are locked or moving furniture away from windows to prevent climbing near them will help to keep your kids safe while they enjoy themselves in their play area.
Outdoor playrooms are an excellent way to get the kids outside and enjoying some fresh air this summer. Outdoor decked areas are always a great base for a kids area. Decking provides a clean even surface for the kids to play on and is often times fenced, which is a great way to make sure they don’t run into unsafe areas. Decks are mostly close to the house, which means they’re an easy spot to keep an eye on. Shady areas provide kids with protection from the sun and are a great spot to set up your play area. If you don’t have a lot of share in your backyard, you can put up a shade cloth over your back deck to not only create a great kids play area but also a good entertaining space. For an outdoor play area, try to avoid places with pot plants, as the are easily tipped over or can be cracked with just one throw of a cricket ball.
By incorporating these elements you’ll be able to find the perfect kids play area in the home and rest assured that they will be safe and your house will be too.
