The ideal age for throwing a party for your son is when he is 4, or 5 years old. Sure, you can start throwing parties when he is one, but let’s be honest, that party has nothing to do with a child since he will have no memory of it, and the crowd of people hugging and kissing him brings out a whole new set of worries. That type of party is in fact for you and your close ones, celebrating your baby.
When it comes to real parties, there are a few things that we should go through before our suggestions on how to have a fun time. Forget about large parties, and if you are planning on inviting a whole class make sure that you can handle that task. It is not an easy job guarding 20 and plus kids, instead, ideally you should invite up to 10 of his friends. When a child turns 5, parents usually don’t feel the need to keep a look out any more, and will feel comfortable to just drop them off, and then it’s all up to you.
Having a good party idea is half of work, you need something that will hold everyone’s attention, and here is a list of party ideas that you should consider.

Safari Adventure

Prepare for the fun times in the heart of the jungle. All kids love animals, and you will certainly win them over with stuffed animals laying around, cardboard cutouts and, of course, a cake in a shape of a wild beast, a lion perhaps. Start planning ahead, as you should do for any sort of party, and you should consider having treats in a shape of animals as well. Kids at this age simply love lions, hippos, monkeys and giraffes, and you can’t go wrong with this choice.

A Superhero party

Kids love positive role-models, and if you could use some help in keeping them occupied, this is a perfect idea for your boys birthday party. Hire a superheroes that your child will love , and surprise them when he appears on the party uninvited. He can lead your party into an adventure, maybe your son is the perfect sidekick, or he can tell them a story about his endeavors, and with a matching cake your party is complete!

A Pirate Party

You will need eye patches, temporary tattoos, foam swords and bandanas, just for starters! Throw in some old storage chests, a piñata in a shape of a pirate ship, and the party can start. An interesting idea for a game is the treasure hunt, obviously. You can get the general idea if you’ve watched any pirate movie or read a book, just have the goodies lying around in the backyard and send the posse to an adventure. You can even make them a map.

Magical times

Your kid probably loves the Harry Potter franchise and even if the films are slowly becoming old news, fans all around the globe still watch them on a regular. Having a marathon of movies in the background, and magical decorations in the front will certainly engage kids with no problem. You can even learn a few magic tricksand show them to the crowd, or you can learn them together. Don’t forget the cake in a shape of a spell book, make a cloak for the birthday boy and decorate everything in stars.

A Wipeout Party

Get ready to get wet and wild! Check with parents if it’s OK with them, some of them might be worried, but in the hot summertime like the one ahead of us this is a perfect idea for a birthday party. Build water-obstacle fields, have a Slip ‘n Slide race, and you will even cherish the moment when all kids get exhausted from all the fun and you get the opportunity to catch your breath.

Just one more tip and your party-panning can start. Consider handing out goodie-bags, and don’t spend more than a few dollars. This might seem pointless to you, but the kids will love it.
